Like in dead rising or left 4 dead you have to kill 53,594 zombies. Is this a reference to something?

I think it has some sort of reference to George. A. Romero’s Dawn of the Dead

    Dead rising was the first one to start this tradition. The number is actually the population of the town where the game was held. Then Left 4 Dead came out and added one more to the zombie count to “one up” the competition. and now it just a Competition between companies
